The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned the obstruction of the delivery of humanitarian aid from the international community, including Indonesia, to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip by Israeli citizens.
“Indonesia strongly condemns the blockade and destruction carried out by Israeli civilians against humanitarian assistance from the international community for the people of Gaza,” said a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs broadcast through its social media, Thursday.
The Indonesian Foreign Ministry stated that the freedom of Israeli extremists to blockade and destroy humanitarian aid reflects Israel’s position that does not want aid to enter the Gaza Strip by obstructing its distribution.
“This action should be dealt with firmly and ensured that it does not happen again,” the ministry said.
Given the importance of humanitarian assistance to the safety of the Palestinian people, the Indonesian Foreign Ministry urges the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to demand guarantees from Israel for the smooth delivery of aid to the Gaza Strip.
This is very important in order to prevent the humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip from getting worse in the midst of Israeli aggression that has not stopped, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Israeli right-wing extremists on Monday blocked another aid truck at the Tarqumiya crossing and destroyed much-needed humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza.
In a video circulating on social media, extremists can be seen throwing and stomping on boxes and packages of food aid that were dropped from the truck.
In the video, one of the food items that was destroyed by the extremists was an instant noodle product from Indonesia.
Israel’s aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023 has killed more than 35,100 civilians, mostly women and children.
According to the UN, the Israeli attack has displaced 85 percent of Gaza’s population, damaged and destroyed 60 percent of Gaza’s infrastructure, and caused severe shortages of food, clean water and medicine.
Despite international pressure, the Israeli government has severely restricted the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, leaving hundreds of thousands of civilians at risk of acute hunger.
