theIndonesian – Defense Minister and Indonesian president-elect Prabowo Subianto discussed cooperation in the defense sector when he met with United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan or MBZ, at Al Shati Palace, Abu Dhabi, Monday (13/5).
“The relationship between Indonesia and the UAE can continue to develop and grow in accordance with the ambitions of the two countries in strengthening cooperation in various fields, including defense,” Prabowo said during his meeting with MBZ in the Defense Minister’s official press release on Tuesday.
Cooperation in the defense sector can include joint war exercises, soldier exchange education and learning about each other’s defense equipment technology.
In addition to discussing cooperation in the defense sector, Prabowo and MBZ also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Prabowo believes that this meeting can build good bilateral relations between the UAE and Indonesia.
The UAE also appreciated Prabowo’s intention to build good relations by making the visit. Therefore, the UAE president gave Prabowo the “Zayed” medal.
This medal was given as an appreciation for Prabowo’s sincere efforts in strengthening cooperative relations between the UAE and Indonesia.
MBZ also hopes that the strategic relationship between the UAE and Indonesia can continue to be established for the prosperity of both countries.
After the awarding of the medal, the two were immersed in a fairly warm conversation. At the end of the meeting, MBZ conveyed his greetings to Indonesian President Joko Widodo through Prabowo.
