However, Sandiaga Uno has expressed his support for the 2024 General Election winning pair.
The politician, who serves as Chairman of PPP’s Election Winning Body (Bapilu), emphasized that he would support the Prabowo-Gibran government. He gave this support without expecting anything in return, especially ministerial seats in the cabinet.
“If I become a leader, I will give support to the government. Although we said, we do not require to get a position, etc.,” he said when met at the Sapta Pesona Building, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (14/5).
According to Sandi, support for the Prabowo-Gibran government is in line with the name of his party. It is hoped that the party bearing the ka’bah symbol can unite to support sustainable development in the country.
“We must provide support. These are our best cadres, to support the next government. It can be inside or outside the government,” he said.
PPP was the first party in the coalition of candidate pair (paslon) number 3 Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud MD to congratulate Prabowo-Gibran.
Acting PPP Chairman Muhammad Mardiono congratulated presidential and vice presidential candidate number 2 Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who were determined by the KPU as the winners of the 2024 presidential election, during a daily management meeting of the PPP Central Executive Board (DPP) at the DPP PPP office, Central Jakarta, Thursday (21/3) evening.
“On behalf of the big family of the United Development Party, we congratulate Mr. H Prabowo Subianto and Mr. Gibran Rakabuming Raka who have received the highest votes in the presidential and vice presidential elections based on the results of the General Elections Commission’s national vote recapitulation on March 20, 2024,” Mardiono said in his statement, Friday (22/3).
Mardiono said that the entire PPP family prayed that the results of the 2024 presidential election would be the best results for Indonesia.
Advancing Jakarta Election
On the same occasion, Sandi also responded to the plan to nominate himself as a candidate for governor (cagub) or candidate for deputy governor (cawagub) of Jakarta. He said PPP was still discussing the opportunity with a number of parties.
Sandiaga assessed that PPP could not impose its will to nominate him in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada. This is because PPP only has one seat in the Jakarta Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD).
“It takes 20% of the number of seats. I have experience from 2017 (when advancing with Anies Baswedan as cawagub),” he said.
According to Sandi, this experience is also taken into consideration whether he will advance in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada or not. “My experience won, so I know how the stages are,” he said.
